Masters in Education (Technology)

Hi,

I'm Jan Clewett. Since March 2006, I have been teaching vocational education at Oakey State High School. I teach Certificate II in IT and Certificate II in Business Services. In 1987 I established a small retail and wholesale nursery at our 18acre property at Geham 20km north of Toowoomba. For 28 years I worked part time in primary education for Ed Qld while juggling the nursery and family commitments of my husband Tim and my two children Katie and Walter.

For anyone not living in Australia, SE Queensland was suffering the worst drought in recorded history (although for much of Queensland the drought has broken not so Toowoomba and the Darling Downs). So in 2006 I decided to scale down our nursery and seek full time teaching work. In doing so I accepted a contract teaching secondary school and I am now employed as a permanent full time teacher. Three years ago I attempted my Masters in Education (Early Childhood) however as my focus in education has now shifted camps, I have changed my major to Technology

In 2007 I completed FET 5621 Introduction to Web Publishing. I actually designed this site as my first assignment (I now know far more about designing webpages) and designed an educational website "Lorikeet Lodge Webquest" suitable for use by my students studying Cert II in Business and Cert II in IT for my last assignment. Last year I completed the ICT Pedagogical Licence through Ed Qld and this year I am an Accredited Facilitator for the Oakey/Dalby cluster.

During this course I hope to improve my knowledge and skills to create more productive learning environments for my students.
