This site is dedicated to providing useful links for educators in the Information Technology field. The site is broken down into two categories. The first category identifies links for teachers who are looking for technology lesson plans and ideas. The second provides a listing of organizations and institutions that offer technology courses and professional development opportunities.

Lesson Plans & Ideas

For the educator who is involved  in a subject area that is constantly updating and changing, there are days when you feel overwhelmed with the task of "keeping up". Often we need lessons that kids find interesting, which also incorporate technology. Here is a list of sites that you can use to find new ideas and lessons and teaching tools in general.

Tonya Skinner's Business Education Lesson Plans and Resources - This is a great site that covers many area that involve technology in the classroom.

Kathy Schrocks Guide for Educators at discoveryschool.com - This site provides more links to sites that are linked to technology and the classroom. Kathy's technology and science page offers many interesting choices.

Teach-nology - this site offers free access to lesson plans, Web Quests, and rubrics all organized by subject area.

Sask Ed - this site provides teachers with lesson ideas to use in your keyboarding class. These lessons can be used for beginners of any age level.

The Educator's Reference Desk - this site is an ERIC site that contains a lesson plan link that includes all subject covered in grades k-12 and some post secondary lessons.

Enhancing Learning with Technology - this site offers some very insightful information about technology and learning styles. If you select the site map you will find a link to lesson plans.

The Teacher's Corner - this site offers an abundance of ideas in the technology section. I particularly like the typing stickers idea for my keyboarding class!

AACE - Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education - this organization is dedicated to the advancement of the knowledge, theory, and quality of learning and teaching at all levels with information technology. When you purchase a membership you receive one free journal subscription. This association provides notification of upcoming conferences and seminars. If you get a chance to do PD this is a great choice as they put on a world class event!

NBEA - National Business Education Association - this association consists of members who are employed a business educators.

ATACC - This association is for teachers in the province of Alberta who work in the Information Technologies strands.

SITE - Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education - this organization strives to inform educators of how  teachers are using technology in the classroom.

EcampusAlberta - this organization was formed in Alberta to offer students access to course that post secondary institutes were offering online on through distance education. You can search the catalog to find the courses that are currently being offered. This is a collaboration of Post Secondary institutes in Alberta.

AlbertaNorth - this organization is a collaboration of northern post secondary institutes, who offer courses to students located in the Northern parts of Alberta, specifically aboriginal students who live in small communities.
