During the 1980s and 1990s I participated in numerous radio and television interviews concerning prison and the criminal justice system.
In December 1990 I participated in a controversial radio talkback program with Kathryn Greiner on Sydney radio station 2UE. During the program I criticised the rewarding of criminal informers and revealed how those secret deals not only fostered corruption but were counterproductive to the community. I was particularly critical of an application by Raymond John Denning who laid claim to the $250 000 reward for the 1978 Hilton Bombing in Sydney.
Denning, a lifer, was in protective custody Long Bay Jail as a supergrass for NSW and Federal Police Forces. At the time of the 2UE Greiner talkback program two high ranking NSW Police Officers were in the process of endorsing Denning’s application to the NSW Rewards Evaluation Committee. The talkback program foiled Denning’s ploy to obtain the reward. It also resulted with my arrest, extradition to Queensland and my wrongful imprisonment for a $694 000 armoured van robbery for drawing media attention to those clandestine dealings between informers and NSW police.
In 1992 Tony Collins interviewed me for ABC radio about how the Greiner 2UE talkback program had contributed to my 1991 extradition and wrongful imprisonment in Queensland.
In recent times I have been
interviewed by the ABC Background Briefing program ‘In The Firing Line’ and also the program home page at 4 Corners ‘In the Firing Line Homepage’
