4.6 - Image Presentation
Image size : 389 KB Activity 4.6 Initially when I started this activity it appeared very difficult to me. I tried different things such as load movie and getURL to go to the page with bigger images and spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to achieve the desired effect. After reading all the tutorials provided and discussions on the forum I realized this is a very simple project. Ideas and skills gained from completing it I created the thumbnails with rollover text using buttons. I learnt how to control the timeline nonlinearly. Learnt how to use the gotoAndPlay () gotoAndStop() commands to move between frames of the timeline and also use stop() command to stop a timeline completely. I added action scripts to the buttons to gotoAndStop at a frame that has the bigger image of the thumbnail. I had to make sure that the action script is placed on the button not on the timeline. While working on bigger projects, instead of asking the movie to go and stop at a frame number its better if they stop at a named key frame, if any frames are deleted we don’t have to go back and change the action scripts. I have learnt how to give the frames a label. I have also realized that using Flash 8 there are so many different ways of creating this effect. I am planning to explore these features for my future projects at work.I had images ready from my previous assignment hence that saved lot of time. Creating the Preloader was another difficult task. SmartWebby tutorial recommended from Peter was a very useful to understand the concept. Found a more comprehensive tutorial from this website that helped me create my Preloader. I learnt how to add scenes, move them delete them and rename them. From the tutorials I have learnt that we can add as many scenes as we want and the number of scenes that can be added is limited only by the amount of memory of the computer. I have also learnt how to attach sound to a button. The music that I have used in this activity is from one of my personal bank of CD's called Web Clip Empire from Xoom.com that I had purchased in 1998. I have used clips from this CD. |
